So it's been a while since I've updated the page (sorry 'bout that), and in that time we've had two doctor's appointments. The first of these two appointments was about 5 weeks ago, when I had just hit 12 weeks, or 3 months. We were initially going in for the routine checkup with a bonus, we were suppose to hear the baby's heartbeat. From every book I had read, we should have been able to hear it at this time. Dr. Snowden tried for what seemed like several minutes, but nothing. All we heard was my stomach growling for more Dorritos. He stopped, and said it was nothing to worry about, sometimes it just happens. The baby could be turned in a certain direction. Actually I believe he said it was being "stubborn", which my mother later blamed on Brian's genes.

All joking aside, I knew the kid was taking after me. Dr. Snowden decided to give us an ultrasound. I trully wasn't worried that we hadn't heard the heartbeat. He didn't want us leaving worried. But I think he didn't want us leaving, without getting verification for himself that everything was fine. It was interesting seeing what actually looked like something other than a peanut. We could clearly see a head (huge head that is), a body, two arms and two legs. The baby looked almost alseep. It's head would bob up and down like it was dozing off, and everytime it lifted its head its arms and legs wiggled. It was quite amuzing.

Both Brian and I giggled at it. The funniest part was how small the arms were in comparison to the rest of the body. It really looked like a TRex's short stubby arms. So it was decided then. We would be calling the baby Rex until the sex was known.

We've already decided on names. For a girl, she will be Anne Christine. Anne is Brian's Mom's middle name (without the "e") and Christine is my mom's middle name.

For a boy, he will be Christopher Decker. Christopher is Brian's best friend who passed away a few years ago, and Decker is after my brother.

It's difficult to say which I'd rather have, both sets of names mean so much to both of us. We'll just have to wait and see. We'll find out on our next appointment, November 27th. We are so excited. But really it's only two weeks from tomorrow, and that's not too far away. Dr. Snowden is excited for us, but reminded us that the baby might play hide-and-seek. So it's not positive that we will know the sex at that appointment. And looking at how the heartbeat appointment went, we're keeping our fingers crossed.

The last appointment, about two weeks ago went very well. It was just a regular checkup. Although this time, we did hear Rex's heartbeat. It was a fascinating sound. It only lasted about 20 seconds, so it feels as though we never heard it. But Brian and I just smiled at each other, thinking warm thoughts.

I've been feeling Rex move the past week, which has been pretty interesting. I was really uncomfortable with it at first, and although I haven't completely gotten use to it, I'm getting there. He/She seems to move when I get up from sitting for a while, or after I eat a dessert. It catches me by surprise most of the time. I'm looking forward to when Brian will be able to feel it as well. Hopefully that won't be too long.

Well, that's all I have for now. I will definitely be reporting back to you in two weeks, once we know the sex. I'm sure you'll even hear about it before I post it on here!
