I've had a few items on my list that I keep meaning to talk about, but alas, we've been busy. We'll start with the most recent and work our way back.

Holy crow. We've lived in the same house for almost four years now and have never been to see this. I'm amazed that I had never heard of it before. But right down the street from us, (literally - see the map below) is Dan's Emerald Forest. This hobbyist has a train track right in his front yard. With a kid that's obsessed with trains, we had to check it out. Even though it's up all year, he does some special decorations for Christmas.

(A is us, B is Dan's)

We took Christopher last week before Christmas to see it, and well, he didn't want to leave. Seriously, how did I not know about this before??

We wanted to go to Tilly's Park after visiting Dan's but found ourselves sitting on I-64 for 45 minutes before turning around and heading home. Check out Tilly's Park Light Show here. Practically everyone in St. Louis goes at Christmas and I guess we chose the same night as everyone else. I can't believe the line was backed up to the highway - and that's not the only entrance to the park. We plan on trying again tonight before they take the lights down on New Years.

We sat in the red circle, trying to get to the green circle. Grrrr.

In other news:
Ug. I honestly can't remember if I've mentioned this on here or not. I know I've complained to every person I've seen, including the cashier at Schnucks. But yes, Christopher has moved on from naps. Maybe I was in some sort of parental fantasy but I thought I had another year (or two) of naps. This probably started back in October. He just decided he wasn't going to sleep when I put him in his bed. I'd watch on the video monitor for two hours as he talked to his stuffed animals or played hide and seek (with himself) under the covers.
I finally gave up after the frustrating and endless climbs up the stairs to tell him to go back to sleep.

I just wish he had waited until Carter was born. I'm so tired these days and wish I still had the time to put my feet up. It does help in the sense that we are putting him down an hour earlier at night. 7 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.  But who am I kidding? I want my mid-afternoon break back.

In the last couple of days he's gone off track with his sleep schedule - which is not like him at all. But he's been waking up early, laying in bed talking to himself. Then when I put a movie on for him while I try to get something done, I come around the corner to find this:

Or this:

And lastly,
Again, this should have been posted a couple of months ago, early November I think, but we are officially out of diapers. Well, Christopher is anyway. We're still working on Brian. We're not even using Pull-Ups at night. I'm so thrilled that Christopher picked up the whole potty training thing so easily. I've heard horror stories of it taking years. But he's a master at it now. Plus, two weeks ago he learned how to "pee pee like daddy". Which you might think I should have waited on, but really. I'm tired of cleaning out the little potties every time he goes.

It may have taken 32 Thomas the Trains and 698 M&Ms, but I'm proud to say that I won't have two boys in diapers at the same time.

Woo Hoo! And I believe that is a good note to end on.
