Carter turned six months this week. Technically, he turned 20 weeks at the beginning of July but I guess we should start by counting months on the 18th. So six months it is.
He went in for his six month well-check-up yesterday. He weighed in at a whopping 22 lbs., 4.5 oz. And he was 29.5 inches tall. Holy canoli! That's insane! It's in the 99th percentile for weight and 98th for height. Looks like we have another linebacker on our hands! At six months, Carter weighs a pound more than Christopher did and is exactly the same height. Hard to believe since Carter weighed 9.1 pounds when he was born and Christopher was 10.5.
Not only is he growing at a fast rate, but he's moving up in the milestone chart too. Carter is now able to sit up, unsupported. (Big plus in my book.) He still wobbles and falls from time to time, but a little head bump here or there won't hurt him. -Kidding.
He's certainly trying to crawl too. Although it will probably be another couple of months before he's fully mobile, he's already starting to spin and scoot on his belly. Carter's also babbling a lot these days. He's definitely trying to hold a conversation with us. Most recently it was at two o'clock in the morning. I was not impressed.
At four months he started to sleep through the night. But just recently he's gone back to his old antics and wakes up at least once a night looking for something to eat. We've started Ferberizing him, as we did with Christopher, but this go-around proves more difficult. Plus I think he's teething and that never helps. Carter is constantly chewing and slobbering on anything he can get his hands on. This is something Christopher never did, so it's a new game for mommy: keep things out of reach from Carter.
But he's developing on schedule and I don't see him moving down in the percentages any time soon. In less than five months we will have a walker on our hands. I'm not sure I'm ready for that! Watch out world - here comes Carter!
